A Rook is a Chess piece.
Rooks are very powerful pieces, moving up and down or side to side as many squares as possible until something gets in the way. Rooks are long range and can attack pieces on light or dark squares. The rook's most glaring weakness is that it starts in the corner and if a player doesn't understand how to develop pieces, the the game might be over before the rooks see any action.
The Rook looks like part of a castle, like a column.
